Live the 3B's and Be a Star!
Anagely Miranda, Zoe Gray, Evelyn Mielcarek were students of the month for Noember and December. Each of these students are respectful and responsible everyday at school. They offer to help in the classroom whenever possible and they are on task in their school work. They also exhibit characteristics of a trustworthy and honest friend and classmate. Being their teacher is an honor :) Congratulations ladies!

6th Grade Parents and Students,
Science Fair:
- Science Fair Projects are Due March 21st, Viewed on 22nd and 23rd
- Participation for 6th is a manditory project for class
- Student have chosen to work independently OR with a partner
- IN SCHOOL: Students will choose a topic, write a scientific question, conduct background research, and design their experiment.
- AT HOME: Students will conduct their experiment, make observations, analyze results and make a poster (over Spring Break)
- Finishing touches will be put on the projects during the first few days back from Spring Break!

Fall conferences are just around the corner! October 27th and 28th, we will be scheduling times for you to come in and discuss your child’s progress! Please indicate below the best 3 times that work for you. Please send this form filled out back to class with your student on Tuesday (tomorrow) or feel free to send me an email of your preferences at bsolawetz@azcharter.com . After creating the schedule that fits everyone’s needs as best I can, I will send an official meeting time slip home with your student on Wednesday.

Homework Policy
1) 6th grade students are expected to complete all assigned homework and return it on the due date. All daily assignments will be due the following class day.
2) Turning all assigned homework in on time during the week will result in a reward of Fun Friday. Fun Friday is 10-15 min of supervised free time outside and the end on each week.
3) Not returning homework on the due date will result in no Fun Friday and 10% of the grade will be taken off each day the assignment is late. Students who cannot participate in Fun Friday will sit inside supervised and complete missing assignments.
4) Students who are absent will be given the number of days they are absent to make-up missed homework. Ex. If a student is absent for 2 days they have the following 2 days to finish assignments INCLUDING the regular daily assignments.
I want students to be a successful in my class and in their total education! If there is a problem I am here to help!
Grading Policy
Grades are weighted as follows:
- Homework – 35%
- Assessments - 35%
- Tests – 25%
- Quizzes – 10%
- Projects – 30%
Grades are given as follows:
- 90%-100% = A
- 89%-80% = B
- 79%-770% = C
- 69%-60%= D
- 59%-0% = F
Instructions for GoMath! Login for Students and Parents at Home:
1) GoMath! Can be accessed at home in two ways.
- By clicking the GoMath! Hyperlinked picture at the bottom of this webpage
- OR by going to www.thinkcentral.com and clicking Mathematics on the left hand side
2) Click on our class GoMAth! Which is orange and purple, iVivan Las Matematicas!
3) On the login page enter:
- State: Arizona
- District: State Operated School
- School: Arizona Charter Academy, Surprise 85378
4) Enter student’s User Name and Password (they are given these in class on a laminated slip to keep track of).
5) On your student’s GoMAth! Page they can access our class book, their student practice book, and games and support resources.
6) We have explored the webpage in class, but take time to look through the resources and send your student to school with any questions you may have!
Continuous practice in math at school and home will put your student at a GREAT advantage this year and in all of their years of education to come!
