Mrs. McPeak's First Grade

Dear Parents and Students,

    The week of Feb. 20-24, students will be reading information text titled, "At Home Around the World."  This is a selection that tells about different kinds of houses in different parts of the world.  You can help your child by making sight word cards and reviewing them daily with your child.
     
     In Math the students will review unit 7 on Tuesday and take the test on the unit on Wednesday.  On Friday, students will start the introduction to Unit 8.  In this unit, students will count forwards and backwards by one, count from any number by tens, count by twos, fives and tens using a hundred chart, skip count on a number line, and learn even and odd numbers.  You can help your child by watching their homework carefully.
     This is a short week in the classroom for students as we don't have school on Monday and on Thursday we have a field trip.  Please make sure your child continues to study the spelling words every night and reads their bag book for at least 20 minutes.
