| Jr. High Curriculum Overview | |
ACA uses individualized curriculum that is aligned to the Arizona State Standards as their core curriculum in the areas of English, math, science, and social studies. The coursework provides individualized instruction at each student's prescribed level of learning and is also taught in small groups based on the student's ability level. We also use a computer-based coursework, Pathways Oddessy Ware, for grades 3-12 that provides personalized, character-based academic tools to meet the needs of the individual student. Pathways software offers content that is updated as needed, is aligned with Arizona State Academic Standards, provides instant performance feedback to students and teachers, incorporates multimedia interaction through digital video and interactive games, and assigns lesson plans based on the school calendar to ensure each student meets his/her academic goals by the end of the year. High school students use Pathways courseware on the laptop computers kept at their desks. In addition to the individualized curriculum, the school also uses scientific research based supplemental programs, such as Harcourt Trophies, Saxon Math and SRA Corrective Acton Reading Program to assist students with mastery level learning. Please see detailed information concerning these programs below

Saxon Math Courses prepare students for the more mathematically sophisticated reasoning and analysis required for high school algebra, calculus, and other areas of advanced mathematicsSaxon optimizes time management. It breaks apart traditional units into easily retained increments and then distributes and integrates the instruction, practice, and assessments across the year. This creates a learning curve that allows students to master the foundations of algebra. No skills or concepts get dropped, and students retain what they have learned well beyond the test.
