ACA Curriculum Overview

ACA uses scientifically-researched curriculum that is aligned to the Arizona State Standards as their core curriculum in the areas of english, math, science, and social studies. Harcourt Trophies, Go Math, Harcourt Science and Harcourt Social Studies provides differentiated instruction to meet each student's prescribed level of learning and is also taught in small groups based on the student's ability level. . In addition to the core curriculum, the school also uses scientific research based supplemental programs, such as Study Island to assist students with mastery level learning. Reading Curriculum

"Trophies" is a research-based, developmental reading/language arts program. Explicit phonics instruction; direct reading instruction; guided reading strategies; phonemic awareness instruction; systematic, intervention strategies; integrated language arts components; and state-of-the-art assessment tools ensure every student successfully learns to read.

Math Curriculum

Go Math! for grades K–6 is also aligned to the Common Core Standards and has utilized the National Council for Mathematics in order to ensure students are learning the necessary skills to be competitive and well-rounded in their education. Cathy Seeley, author of Holt McDougal Florida Mathematics and former president of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, was the driving force behind the development of the Curriculum Focal Points. Utilizing a variety of written, digital and hands-on instruction methods, Go Math! ensures that students are immediately and fully engaged in the learning process. The program features a “Write-In” student text, Grab & Go Classroom Kits and interactive digital classroom lessons that, in combination with a 100-percent recycled textbook, provide problem-solving-based experiences and opportunities to explore mathematics in depth and achieve a holistic understanding of material. Go Math provides multi-day experiences and opportunities to explore mathematics in depth so that students truly make sense of what they are learning.
